An unpublicized emergency summit has been held by Facebook in New york, after confusion about policies for advertising. The meeting was called after many ad agencies were found to be pitching campaign ideas beyond the guidelines. Among others, Crispin Porter + Bogusky attended the summit, which was aimed a resolving numerous issues.
One problem identified was how Facebook might allow a concept, which a brand then places heavy investment in, and then Facebook policy changes to prevent it going ahead. Blake Chandlee, VP of global agencies and clients at Facebook said the made point in question was how people could be informed about policy changes ahead of time. He acknowledged Facebook haven’t done a great job of this in the past.
It’s possible that the summit, which reportedly took place on 10-11 July, becomes a recurring event, in an attempt to build advertiser confidence in the network.
